Derbyshire is a county in the East Midlands of England. It borders Greater Manchester to the west, South Yorkshire to the north, Nottinghamshire to the east, and Staffordshire and Leicestershire to the south. Derbyshire is a ceremonial county and an administrative and geographic county.
The county town is Matlock. Derbyshire is home to the Peak District National Park, which is a popular destination for hikers, bikers, and other outdoor enthusiasts. The county is also home to a number of historic houses and castles, including Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall.
Derbyshire has a rich history dating back to the Roman era. The county was once part of the Kingdom of Mercia, and it was later ruled by the Normans and the Plantagenets.
