By Jamison Hensley, ESPN Staff Writer

July 14, 2024 (11:56 AM ET) -- Jacoby Jones, the former NFL receiver and kick returner who helped the Baltimore Ravens win Super Bowl XLVII with the longest play in Super Bowl history, has died at the age of 40. Jones died peacefully at his home in New Orleans, according to his family.

Jones' 108-yard kickoff return touchdown in Super Bowl XLVII is still the longest play in Super Bowl history. He also had a 56-yard touchdown reception in the game, helping the Ravens defeat the San Francisco 49ers 34-31.

"Jacoby was an absolute legend," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said in a statement. "He was beloved by literally everybody he met and lit up every room/field he walked into/onto. He will be deeply missed by the Ravens organization and our fans."
