S.L. Benfica to face FK Crvena zvezda in the UEFA Champions League

S.L. Benfica will face FK Crvena zvezda in the UEFA Champions League play-off round.

The draw was made on Monday at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. Benfica will host the first leg on August 16 or 17, with the return leg taking place in Belgrade on August 23 or 24.

Benfica is the defending champion of the Liga Portugal, while Crvena zvezda is the defending champion of the Serbian SuperLiga.

Both teams will be looking to reach the group stage of the Champions League for the first time since 2019.

Benfica has won the European Cup/Champions League twice, in 1961 and 1962, while Crvena zvezda won the competition in 1991.

The winner of the play-off round will advance to the group stage of the Champions League, while the loser will enter the group stage of the Europa League.

The draw for the group stage of the Champions League will be held on August 25.
